Light and peace, in Jesus Christ our Lord
Thanks be to God.
It is not ourselves that we proclaim; we proclaim Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants, for Jesus’ sake. For the same God who said, “Out of darkness let light shine,” has caused his light to shine within us, to give the light of revelation—the revelation of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:5-6
Let us pray.
Almighty God, we give you thanks for surrounding us, as daylight fades, with the brightness of the vesper light; and we implore you of your great mercy that, as you enfold us with the radiance of this light, so you would shine into our hearts the brightness of your Holy Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Samuel lay there until morning; then he opened the doors of the house of the Lord. Samuel was afraid to tell the vision to Eli. But Eli called Samuel and said, ‘Samuel, my son.’ He said, ‘Here I am.’ Eli said, ‘What was it that he told you? Do not hide it from me. May God do so to you and more also, if you hide anything from me of all that he told you.’ So Samuel told him everything and hid nothing from him. Then he said, ‘It is the Lord; let him do what seems good to him.’
As Samuel grew up, the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. And all Israel from Dan to Beer-sheba knew that Samuel was a trustworthy prophet of the Lord. The Lord continued to appear at Shiloh, for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel at Shiloh by the word of the Lord.

‘When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end will not follow immediately.’ Then he said to them, ‘Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and plagues; and there will be dreadful portents and great signs from heaven.

Let us name before God those for whom we offer our prayers.
God the Father, your will for all people is health and salvation;
We praise you and thank you, O Lord.
God the Son, you came that we might have life, and might have it more abundantly;

God the Holy Spirit, you make our bodies the temple of your presence;

Prayers for Healing
The ministry of Jesus invites us to new life in God and with each other. In the laying on of hands and anointing we proclaim the Good News that God desires us to be healthy and one in the body of Christ. You are invited to offer yourself, whatever your sickness of spirit, mind, or body, and ask for healing and wholeness in the Name of the holy and undivided Trinity.
You may offer prayers silently, light a candle, or come forward for individual prayers of healing
At the conclusion of the prayers for healing, the Presider prays:
Generous God, we give you thanks for your beloved Jesus Christ, in whom you have shared the beauty and pain of human life. Look with compassion upon all for whom we pray, and strengthen us to be your instruments of healing in the world, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

You have filled us and all creation with your blessing and fed us with your constant love; you have redeemed us in Jesus Christ and knit us into one body. Through your Spirit you replenish us and call us to fullness of life.

The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,

begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.

O God, we pray for the well-being of the whole church of God in the world, its members including Pohick in Lorton, St. David’s in Ashburn, and St. Mary’s in Arlington from the Diocese of Virginia, Mrs. Pauline Hall and The Reverend George F. Kahle in the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia, and the Church of North India (United) in the Anglican Communion, and the church’s mission to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.
Lord, we know that you are ever present in the world, guiding and companioning your church. We ask that you so guide us, especially during this time of formation to discern your call and direction.
The nation and all in authority:
O God, in your creation guide our hearts and minds so that just and fair decisions be made by all those elected to govern our country. Fill our leaders with a spirit of love in which decisions are made for the benefit of all this country and all throughout the world.
Lord, Give them courage to lead with integrity, serve justice for the common good, and help us all to remember that we are responsible to each other.
The welfare of the world:

The concerns of the local community:
O God of peace and reconciliation, we recognize that we have many local communities – the local community of Richmond that we share this weekend, our hometowns, and the embodied local St. Phoebe School community which we have assembled in this room – we celebrate and lift up to you the intersectionality and needs of our all our local communities.
Lord we ask that you grant us your heart and eyes with which to see all of our neighbors, that we will celebrate and affirm the spectrum of races, orientations, abilities, and voices that you love and have created. Help us to be your presence of friendship, compassion, and kindness in the local communities of our lives.
Those who suffer and those in any trouble:
Lord, we pray for those who suffer in body, mind, or spirit, and those who are troubled in any way. We raise up our brothers and sisters in India and those everywhere who continue to suffer from the pandemic. We pray for those who suffer from the ravages of war in Yemen, Syria, and throughout the world, and we pray for those who suffer in silence, obscurity, and hopelessness.
Lord, we believe that the foundation of Jesus’ healing ministry was the rejection of human suffering. Please make us all healing warriors on behalf of those who suffer from evil, sickness, and oppression.
The departed (with commemoration of a saint when appropriate):
We pray for St. Phoebe and all others whose earthy pilgrimage has ended. We especially pray for those we loved but no longer see including our beloved companion animals.
Throughout their earthly life, you embraced them with your love. Welcome them into the fullness of your everlasting kingdom where healed, restored, and renewed they may dwell in your peace forever.
