Prayer is the foundation for everything we do.
“Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen.”-A Prayer of St. Chrysostom, Book of Common Prayer
Formation for ministry can feel like a demanding time for study, training, and immersion into new experiences. But all of this is held by God.
Deacons are an embodiment of prayer: the link between the Church and the world. Taking time to pray both personally and in community are the foundations for your formation. This is your virtual chapel, one that everyone who takes part in the St. Phoebe School for Deacons can access and help to curate. Allow this to be a place for your daily prayers, your connection with each other and your resting place to ground your day. On this site you will find daily common prayer, as well as permanently housed pages with prayers, icons, and reflections to keep your focus no matter where you are and what you are doing. Prayer grounds us, forms us, shapes us, and transforms us. May this Virtual Chapel be that place for you.
The St. Phoebe School for Deacons is the diaconal training program for the Diocese of Virginia and the Diocese of Southern Virginia, in partnership with the Center for Anglican Lifelong Learning (CALL) program at Church Divinity School of the Pacific.
