Opening:
God Almighty grant us a peaceful night;
And a perfect end.
(Pause for holy silence.)
The angels of God guard us through the night,
And lead us to heavenly peace.
Light and peace, in Jesus Christ our Savior.
Thanks be to God.
Confession
Loving God, we are sorry
for the hurtful things we have thought, said, or done,
and for not doing the things we should have done.
We ask for your forgiveness.
Set us on your way and make us whole. Amen.
Song
Before the ending of the day,
Creator of the world, we pray
That you, with steadfast love, would keep
Your watch around us while we sleep.
Scripture
Don’t abandon wisdom, and she will guard you. Love her, and she will protect you. Get wisdom! Get understanding before anything else. Highly respect her, and she will raise you up. She will honor you if you embrace her. She will place a graceful wreath on your head; she will give you a glorious crown. Proverbs 4:6-9, adapted
Reflecting on the Day
Where did you sense God shining in your life today? Where did you shine your light?
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your Name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
Song of Simeon
Lord, you now have set your servant free
to go in peace as you have promised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Savior,
Whom you have prepared for all the world to see:
A light to enlighten the nations,
And the glory of your people Israel.
Glory to the holy and undivided Trinity,
Three in One and One in Three,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
Guide us waking, O Lord, and guard us sleeping;
that awake we may watch with Christ,
and asleep we may rest in peace.
Closing
Let us bless the Lord
Thanks be to God
The almighty and merciful Lord, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
bless us and keep us. Amen.
