A Prayer of John Henry Newman
O Lord, support us all the day long of this troubled life,
until the shadows lengthen, and the evening comes and the busy world is hushed,
the fever of life is over, and our work is done.
Then, in your mercy, grant us a safe lodging,
and a holy rest, and peace at the last,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Lord Almighty grant us a peaceful night and a perfect end. Amen.
Our help is in the Name of the Lord;
The maker of heaven and earth.
Assurance of Pardon: Psalm 103:8-12
The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
